Emerging WebBusinesses and Facebook
A Manual for Business Owners
12.   The Toolbox

The following are some of the tools you can use if you choose to take the do-it-yourself route to start out:

DYI Web Design

Weebly   --offers easy to use online webdesign platform.  Less complicated than MS Powerpoint.

Free.  Strongly recommend $35 upgrade  to Pro version for business websites.  Easier to use and requires
                                 significantly less RAM than WIX.
No programming experience required  Can be enhanced
                                 with custom html and css.

Wix   -- offers easy to use online webdesign platform in FLASH.  More flashy bells and whistles than
Weebly, but there are many nuts and bolts things that Weebly handles more efficiently.

No programming experience required  Can be enhanced with custom html and css.

MS Picture Editor, MS Powerpoint, Photoshop Elements 8, Photoshop Lightroom 3.0 beta –
each has its strengths and its weaknesses.

              Google's GMail

Total Investment  $200.00 in software and services.

Designing a website takes about 1 hour for first page-30 minutes for each page thereafter.  The truth is this is the easy part.

Developing Content – Text and Pictures—takes a lot longer than designing the website and uploading content.

Positioning website and linking to the rest of webplatform.  Ongoing processes.

You don’t really finish websites, you just run out of time and stop for a while.
And you learn something new every day.

Recommendation #4:  Don’t try to save money on tools.  Buy the best tools for the specific job you are trying to do within the budget you have to work with.

How many speciality hammers does a master mason or carpenter have in his tool bag?  And he did not buy them all at one time, either.
